Triple Talaq- Examining Faith

Triple Talaq- Examining Faith

The author is a Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India and a former Cabinet Minister of External Affairs, Law and Justice and Corporate Affairs.

The Book is the story of the Triple Talaq judgement (Shayara Bano v. Union of India) of the Supreme Court of India. The author was a part of the proceedings as he filed an application for intervention for presenting his stand before the Court, a stand which didn’t support fully any of the sides.

The book is broadly divided into six parts discussing about the arguments advanced by both the parties, the details about various forms of Talaqs (focusing on Triple Talaq), views prevalent in Indian legal realm, reforms in various Islamic States and the Judgement.

An interesting book filled with extensive research portraying the normative position of Islam on marriage and divorce and depicting the position of religion under the Indian Constitutional setting.
